Learn from the best: Dale DeGroff headed to Australia

De Kuyper has partnered with living bartending legend Dale DeGroff for the fourth Australian edition of The Works program.

A cocktail authority for over three decades, DeGroff has been credited with reviving the profession of bartending and setting off the cocktail explosion that continues to this day.

Developing his techniques and talent at New York’s iconic Rainbow Room in the 1980s, DeGroff pioneered a gourmet approach to recreating classic cocktails and popularised the Cosmopolitan.

The workshops, designed to upskill bartenders and consumers on cocktail trends, will take place in early August in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane.

“De Kuyper is determined to be the key ingredient partner of every great cocktail in bars and homes alike, so we partner with the best the world has to offer to develop that creativity and inspiration in cocktail makers,” said Pete Hollands, De Kuyper Brand Ambassador for Australia.

“Bringing a living legend such as Dale DeGroff to Australia to feature the ‘Twist on Classics’ trend is a dream come true and I’m sure he will add value to all attendees.”

DeGroff is also a founding partner of the Beverage Alcohol Resource (BAR), a partnership of six of the world’s leading spirits and cocktails authorities who provide training and credentialing in distilled spirits and mixology.

His awards include lifetime achievement awards from Tales of the Cocktail and Nightclub & Bar Magazine, and he’s the author of two bestselling books: The Craft of the Cocktail and The Essential Cocktail.

DeGroff follows other living legends of the industry – Jeff ‘Beachbum’ Berry, Alex Kratena, and Nicolas St. Jean – who have partnered with De Kuyper for The Works in Australia in previous years.

Attendees of The Works in 2018 will have the opportunity to pick up new knowledge across the liqueurs category and inspirational creative mixology techniques, while learning about the craft nature of cocktails, twists on classics recipes and the history and production of De Kuyper – from its origins as a small family-owned distillery in Holland to its continued success as a global brand.
