Mary’s Underground opens to the public

Mary’s Underground officially opened to the public last week – check out the gallery below for shots inside the new venue.

The venue occupies the former home of The Basement and will bring live music back to the iconic space, along with a full-service restaurant and serious bar program.

“We hope for Mary’s Underground to be a place for celebrations, where people can connect through food and music in one of Sydney’s most historic and well loved venues,” said Jake Smyth, Mary’s co-founder. “We’re looking forward to throwing a big-ass party every night!”

Fellow co-founder Kenny Graham said the opening has left him “filled to the guts with joy, excitement and anticipation.”

“Never has an opening made us think about the history of this great city, and the path that the future holds, more,” he said.

“We continue our best to show this incredible venue the love and respect it deserves through live music, delicious food and giving the walls a little more to talk about! Now come and join us and help the world of Jazz continue to disrupt all that it touches!!”

Mary’s Underground will be open Monday to Thursday from 5pm-1am, and Friday to Saturday 5pm-3am (closed on Sundays).
