Australia Liquor Industry Awards 2019: Be there!

The 2019 Australian Liquor Industry Awards (ALIA) are taking place on 23 October, with an all-new location and 70’s/Disco theme set to spice things up again in 2019.

ALIA sees over 600 members of the industry gather to celebrate another successful year and recognise the best brand, people, venues and operators of the last 12 months.

Recognising the best of both the on- and off-premise, bars, hotels, retailers and suppliers the night sees over 50 awards presented including 12 major awards.

The first of the major awards to be presented was the hotly-contested Bartender of the Year, which last year went to Natalie Ng from Door Knock. “I’m humbled to win this award, especially when so many of my favourite bartenders were also nominated – definitely a career highlight,” she told Bars and Clubs. “A big thank you goes to all the people I worked for and beside behind the stick with… I’ve learnt so much from them.”

Another popular win was Bar of the Year, which was awarded to The Barber Shop. “We are all over the moon about the recognition to be honest,” said Julian Train. “We have worked hard over the last five years to make sure The Barber Shop remains at the front of the Australian cocktail scene, and with our big focus on all things gin it’s nice to be acknowledged that we are still on the right track!”

Bar Group Operator of the Year went to Speakeasy Group, while Vanguard Luxury Brands was named the On-premise Supplier of the Year for the third time. “The ALIAs are the industry’s most respected awards and to win this ALIA means an enormous amount to everyone at Vanguard,” said owner and founder James France.

The full list of the On-Premise Awards for 2018 is below – but the real question is, who will follow in the footsteps of these deserving winners in 2019?
