TheFork booking platform to close

Popular online reservation platform TheFork has announced that it will cease its operations in Australia from Sunday 31 March 2024.

In a statement issued online and to customers in an email, it was confirmed that TheFork will remain fully operational until this date, at which point the local website and app will become inaccessible.

TheFork attributed the decision to ongoing economic pressures post-pandemic: “We understand that this decision may come as a surprise, and we want to assure you that this was not a choice made lightly.

“Due to the significant impact the pandemic had on the global economy, particularly the hospitality industry, we therefore had to implement certain cost measures, which includes a reduction of TheFork’s geographical footprint.

“Thank you for your trust throughout the last 15 years and most importantly, for supporting local restaurants.”

Account holders have been advised that they can continue to redeem Yum points until the platform closes on 31 March, when unused points will automatically expire and become inaccessible.

Formerly known as Dimmi, the restaurant booking platform operates in 12 countries globally with over 55,000 restaurant members, and will continue to operate in Europe.
