Cocktail Menu: Three winning whisky cocktails

Three unique Nikka whisky cocktails created by 2023 Nikka Perfect Serve Australia winner Reuben Beasley-Palmer to complement his favourite Nikka expressions.

“My serving of The Other Half was a pairing of a dram of Nikka Yoichi Single Malt Whisky and a tasty soda that I created. The mixer, named Super Mandarin Soda, was a mix of a mandarin sherbet, cold pressed mandarin juice and soda, adding all of this to a bottle to pre-carbonate it and garnished with a wasabi leaf”, said Reuben.

“I found this was a magical pairing of the mellow peat, slight maritime and bold flavour of Nikka Yoichi Single Malt, with the bright zingy pop of the Super Mandarin Soda.”



  • 45ml Nikka from the Barrel
  • 30ml Amaretto
  • 4 dashes of Angostura Bitter


  1. Combine the three ingredients
  2. Stir down into a Nick & Nora glass and serve with an orange twist

The Lady Finger


  • 40ml Nikka Coffey Malt
  • 10ml Yuzu juice
  • 25ml lime juice
  • 20ml banana liqueur
  • 10ml vanilla syrup
  • One egg white


  1. Dry shake then wet shake
  2. Serve with a ‘Beasley’ garnish

The Other Half


  • Yoichi Single Malt
  • Homemade super mandarin soda


  1. Pair your whisky with a homemade super mandarin soda
  2. Serve with an ice spear in a highball glass
  3. Garnish with a wasabi leaf
