Cape Byron Distillery goes nuts with its latest whisky

The innovation keeps coming from the team at Cape Byron Distillery, with the release of a new expression of its award-winning whisky, a whisky that has matured in casks that previously held Brookie’s Macadamia and Wattle Seed Liqueur (Mac Liqueur).

The Mac Liqueur Cask Whisky blends tradition and innovation to produce a whisky with tasting notes that describe a milk chocolate, cereal sweetness and buttery macadamia palate. The ex-bourbon casks are initially filled with Brookie’s Mac Liqueur, which gives the distillery its Barrel Aged Mac, they are then filled with Brookie’s mature single malt whisky to add further depth and character to the whisky.

Distiller and CEO at Cape Byron Distillery, Eddie Brook, expressed his excitement, for the new whisky, saying: “We’re macadamia farmers first and foremost with a passion for rainforest regeneration. Creating our Mac. Liqueur Cask has brought feelings of nostalgia from growing up with the rich aromas of roasted macadamias wafting through the kitchen.

“We thought we would have some fun and see what happens when maturing our macadamia liqueur into casks would do and now, we have something just brilliant.”

Mac. Liqueur Cask is set to captivate whisky connoisseurs and enthusiasts alike with its luxurious milk chocolate aromas with hints orange marmalade on the finish.

For those eager to experience the unparalleled taste of Mac. Liqueur Cask Whisky, just 550 bottles will be available from the 29th of April for purchase at select retailers, premium bars and through Cape Byron Distillery direct. The comes in at 45 per cent ABV and with a $149.99 RRP.
