Uber partners with Maybe Sammy on Bar in a Car

Uber Eats has collaborated with Maybe Sammy’s Stefano Catino on The Bar in a Car – a ‘travelling tavern’ in which Stefano will host a cocktail masterclass.

After this masterclass, guests at the bar can take away cocktail kits to recreate the drinking experience at home. These have been created in partnership with Messina, Brix Rum and Hellfire Bluff Distillery.

The initiative was prompted by research undertaken by Uber Eats and Censuswide, which found that over 50 per cent of Australians surveyed would rather have a drink with family at home, than one with colleagues after-work.

“On Uber you can go anywhere or get anything – including amazing experiences to share with your family and friends. The Bar in the Car is the perfect way to extend summer at home for one last hurrah before you have to head back to the grind,” said Stefano.

The bar itself is operated by drinks strategy agency, Sweet & Chilli, and has been squeezed into a six-wheeled, former military vehicle, ensuring a total mobile drinking hole.

Lucas Groeneveld believes this initiative will return a bit of the magic to Friday drinks.

“Remote work has yielded plenty of advantages but with more than 1 in 6 of Aussies being more likely to work from home on Friday, the end of week knockoff drink has lost some of its sparkle,” Lucas said.

“With Uber Eats featuring thousands of drink options across NSW, VIC and QLD for the end of week tipple, this six wheeled watering hole is a great reminder that Uber Eats is able to bring the bar to you and your neighbours if you are WFH – or delaying your return to the office – with just a few clicks

Customers can book the Bar in a Car experience for $40 via the Uber Eats app, by searching ‘Bar in a Car’. Each booking includes a half-hour cocktail class, nibbles, a cocktail kit and additional ‘limited-edition goodies’. The experience is available in certain Melbourne suburbs on the weekend of 28 (Richmond) and 29 (St Kilda) January, following a six-day run in Sydney.
