Jack Daniel’s 150th Anniversary whiskey released

In celebration of its anniversary, the Tennessee whiskey producer has released the Jack Daniel’s 150th Anniversary limited edition whiskey.

Master Distiller Jeff Arnett created a distinctive taste profile for this commemorative whiskey that still pays homage to the history of the brand.

“For this 150th anniversary whiskey, our coopers ‘slow-toasted’ the barrels to bring out the rich flavours and aromas of the wood, creating a contemporary expression of an 1866 barrel char,” says Arnett. “We wanted to offer a unique whiskey that we think collectors and consumers alike will enjoy for their own celebrations and is as special as the anniversary that it celebrates.”

The whiskey embraces the distillery’s traditions, using the same grain bill as Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 (80 percent corn, 12 percent barley and 8 percent rye) before being mellowed through ten feet of sugar maple charcoal, and placed in new American oak barrels.

Once filled, the barrels were placed in the “angel’s roost” of one of the oldest barrelhouses at the distillery.

Barrelled and bottled at 100 proof (50.0% ABV), the 150th Anniversary edition offers “complex tasting notes of butterscotch and toffee upon first taste followed by a full, smooth and lingering finish with warm flavours of toasted oak”.

The 150th anniversary whiskey is available now with a suggested retail price of $99.99 for a 1L bottle.
