Speakeasy to open Nick & Nora’s in Melbourne

The Speakeasy Group has announced the future launch of a Nick & Nora’s venue in Melbourne, following the opening of Nick & Nora’s in the Sydney suburb of Parramatta in October last year.

Slated to open in early 2020, the Melbourne iteration of Nick & Nora’s will champion ‘cocktails, Champagne, Cognac and caviar’ in the upcoming 80 Collins Street development.

The venue will incorporate art deco flourishes and other design elements with a clear nod to the roaring ‘30s and post-Prohibition America.

And they’re not holding back in terms of size; when it opens next year, Nick & Nora’s Melbourne will have capacity for up to 240 guests across five distinct spaces, with three additional balconies.

Champagne will be a key focus for the venue, with ‘five-metre-long climate-controlled displays’ holding 400 exclusive, rare and hard to find bottles from the region’s most highly regarded houses.

The cocktail list will incorporate Speakeasy’s signature flair and will included whole sections dedicated to Martini’s, Champagne Cocktails and Sours just to name a few.

“We pride ourselves on pushing boundaries to create world-class, memorable and exciting drinking and dining experiences,” says Speakeasy co-owner Sven Almenning. “Nick and Nora’s brand combined with the 80 Collins Street address will do exactly that.”

The announcement comes just over a month after Speakeasy co-owners Almenning and Greg Sanderson revealed their ambitious crowdfunding campaign via Birchal – with up to 10% of the business currently available through investments from as little as $500 up to $10,000.

“We’ve always sought to do things differently,” says Almenning. “Giving our loyal clientele and teams the opportunity to share in our growth journey is really important to us. It’s great that the equity crowdfunding regime now allows us to do this.”

The opportunity to invest in The Speakeasy Group via crowdfunding platform Birchal ends at midnight this Thursday 4 April.
