Mjølner collaborates with Highland Park on exclusive whisky

In an Australian first, Highland Park has teamed up with Mjølner Australia to release a cask strength 14-year-old single malt made exclusively for the Australian market.

The decision for the two to collaborate was a no-brainer, given both Mjølner and Highland Park’s connection with the independent spirit of the Vikings.

Discussions about the unprecedented collaboration – the first for Australia – have been ongoing, with the signature bottling described as having “loads of sherry and spice, sweet vanilla and a touch of smokiness”.

1731 bottles were blended from a small number of casks including a combination of butts (477 Litres), puncheons (318 Litres) as well as hogsheads (238.5 Litres). The casks were predominantly made up of first-fill sherry seasoned European oak cask, followed by first-fill sherry seasoned American oak cask; the remaining whisky came from traditional refill casks.

In true Mjølner style, both Sydney and Melbourne venues will be delivering their signature dram tableside in a miniature replica Viking longboat, custom-made to house the whisky bottle and glassware.

Bottles of the Highland Park X Mjølner Collaborative Whisky will also be available to purchase from Spirits Platform for venues and retailers, and in selected retail shops in Sydney like the Oak Barrel.
