Bombay launches ‘Stir Creativity’ cocktail competition, supports bars at Other Art Fair

Bombay Sapphire has supported the launch of its new ‘Stir Creativity’ cocktail competition at the Other Art Fair, a showcase of over 100 independent artists held last Thursday (1 December) at the Cutaway Barangaroo, Bombay Sapphire partnered with leading bars across Sydney.

The new competition was announced at the recent launch of Bombay Citron Pressé, which took place at Sydney’s rooftop Smoke Bar.

Speaking at the launch, Bombay Sapphire Brand Ambassador, Corina Retter said: “I’m so excited to be able to announce that Bombay Sapphire is launching its inaugural cocktail competition, Bombay Sapphire Stir Creativity.

“Now this competition is going to challenge bartenders to take inspiration from the world around them and to create a drink using one of the spirits from the House of Bombay.

“Here are Bombay we believe that creativity is not limited to studios, to art galleries or to trained artists, and that creativity and inspiration can be found in the most mundane moments, if you only open your eyes to see it,” Retter continued.

“So we’ll be challenging bartenders to find something that inspires them to create a cocktail using one of the Bombay Sapphire portfolio, and to submit that for a chance to win a trip to the Laverstroke Distillery.”

Bars and Clubs will keep you posted with all the details for the competition.

The Other Art Fair saw a pop-up bar featuring cocktails from Barangaroo House, Burrow Bar, Apollonia and Grain Bar. Each drink was made using a different gin from the ‘House of Bombay’ – including the newly launched Citron Pressé.

Support for the Other Art Fair forms part of the gin brand’s ‘Stir Creativity’ campaign, as Bombay Sapphire Brand Manager Monty Quaife-Ryan told Bars & Clubs.

“Stir Creativity – that’s our brand platform. It’s all come from our ‘brand truth’ around Bombay Sapphire: which is that it’s a balance flavour profile that is a blank canvas for creativity,” Monty said.

“So that’s why we partner with the Other Art Fair – it gives the artist communities in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and across Australia a bit of a platform to showcase their work and sell it, which is awesome.”

At the launch of Citron Pressé, Bombay Sapphire also announced a new cocktail competition for bartenders, with more details to be revealed soon. Bombay previously worked with the Other Art Fair in 2021.

Bars & Clubs also asked why Bombay had decided to work with these bars in particular.

“It’s always based on relationships, but we do a bit of a sense check – we go out in the community and say, ‘Hey guys, is this something you want to get interested in?’”

Monty explained how the brand has furthered support for artists at this year’s fair.

“We’re actually doing a bit of an artist competition, where you vote for your favourite artists. So there’s Citron Pressé inspired artworks, I think 60 artists actually jumped into the conversation.

“Basically, if you vote, [the consumer] gets a free drinks token to redeem at the bar,” Monty added.

The Other Art Fair is designed to provide an accessible platform for local artist communities around the world. Prices for artworks began at $100. DJs, tattoo artists and street food was also available at the Fair.

The Other Art Fair will return to Sydney in May 2023, with a fair in Melbourne also planned.
