Glenglassaugh to launch 51-year-old, $9000 single malt in Australia

Glenglassaugh is launching its 51 year old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky in Australia this month, with only 10 bottles of the dram available across the country.

Distilled on 15 February 1963, the 51 YO is one of the oldest casks in the Glenglassaugh inventory and has been maturing at the distillery’s coastal warehouse at Portsoy for more than half a century.

Retailing at a hefty RRP $9,000 each, there are only 191 bottles of the whisky available worldwide.

“The Glenglassaugh 51 Year Old is extremely rare and from one of the oldest casks in our inventory,” explains Laura McCarthy, Glenglassaugh brand manager.

“On the nose you will get figs, apricots and hints of blackberry. To taste, this whisky is full-bodied and rich with mouth-watering notes of red fruit preserve and a hint of herb influence and soft peppery oak. The taste of this rare vintage makes it a memorable dram.”

Bottled at cask strength, the Glenglassaugh 51 YO is non-chilled filtered, natural colour and clocks in at 41.7% ABV.
