Welcome to this week’s edition of Bars and Clubs.
Is this the best time of the year? It’s World Cocktail Day on Friday, right in the middle of Australian Cocktail Month, and then World Whisky Day is just around the corner.
I know May being Australian Cocktail Month, with these two huge global events also happening, is no coincidence, it’s just great thinking by ACM Founder Penny Sippe.
But there’s so much happening, and it’s great to see the vibrancy of Australia’s bar scene being recognised by local punters as well as on the global scale by the likes of Tales of the Cocktail.
I really liked this week’s story from the team at Monkey Shoulder, whose research has found 30 per cent of beer drinkers actually prefer cocktails, and that 7.52pm is the average time that the switch from beer happens.
There’s also some really exciting takeovers happening so I can’t wait to get out and see what these iconic bars will be bringing with them, the rest of May, may not be restful!
