Open your own pillow fort bar for Never Never

It’s now around the halfway point of the Never Never Have I Ever Bartender Challenge (or as close as you can for a seven week challenge) and the latest task has just been announced.

The task this week is to: “Serve a gin and tonic in your own pillow-fort-bar. Most impressive wins. Bonus points for including Never Never.”

To enter this week, upload a video up to 30 seconds long of your interpretation to social media with the hashtags #NeverNeverHaveIEver and #designedadoonataverna , then email it to competition@neverneverdistilling.com.au.

This week’s winner will get a case of Never Never Triple Juniper gin and a slab of Fever Tree Mediterranean Tonic. Plus, you’ll go on the leaderboard to win the grand prize after all seven tasks – a trip for two to the launch of the new Never Never Distillery (after the pandemic).

As Never Never Co-founder and Brand Director Sean Baxter recommended for previous weeks’ challenges, think outside the box and really make your attempt your own. It’s not like a regular cocktail competition that is judged for the drink or the technicality.

“Always remember that we leave the challenge very open ended for a reason,” Baxter said.

“Although it’s small, we wanted to do something that doesn’t trivialise the situation we’re in, but that makes the most of a whole bunch of bartenders sitting at home that don’t necessarily want to make drinks.”

“The great thing about this is it’s not about having shots or having drinks and that kind of thing. It’s about thinking creatively, having a task, getting that task done and being rewarded for it… it’s about having some fun with what you have on hand.”

You can see a great range of creativity in all the entrants of the previous weeks challenges too, including the latest winners and runners up who were announced today.

There were joint winners in James McNaughton and Cam McKenzie, the latter of which must be making serious points on the leaderboard after winning and coming runner up in the prior challenges.

Runners up meanwhile were Simon Wilson and Clinton Weir. All awarded videos this week showed uniquely entertaining and impressive takes on the task, from excellent bar skills and tricks, to interesting storylines and production quality… any idea has potential!

Don’t be the one saying never have I ever done the Never Never Have I Ever challenge… give this week’s challenge a go!
