Carlton cocktail bar and bistro, Bar Bellamy, has made its debut on ’50 Best Discovery’ an in-depth collection of city guides that highlights premium dining, drinking and travel destinations around the world.
The platform added more than 500 new venues to its collection earlier this month, including 100 bars, 240 restaurants and 170 hotels.
Bar Bellamy was one of those bars added, with 50 Best Discovery saying: “Epitomising the French bel ami (beautiful friend) for which it’s named, this neighbourhood spot is focused on community and conviviality, with a feel that’s akin to being at a dinner party at a friend’s house.
“Owners Dani and Oska Whitehart set out to create a space where conversation would flow between guests, encouraged by seating at two large communal tables, not to mention the warm hospitality to be found here.
“A limited number of each cocktail on offer is produced resulting in a menu that changes a few times a week. Bar staff are able to create any classic on request too, making use of the 150-plus bottles on the bar’s shelves, featuring a mix of Australian and international products.
“Much like the cocktails, the wine list is ever-evolving too, chosen to pair with the dishes on offer.”
Bar Bellamy open in April 2023 with a constantly evolving, hyper-seasonal drink menu, with the bar team only making 100 of each cocktail before moving on to the next one. According to the owners, the bar’s philosophy is based on providing warm service to everyone who walks through the door.
“We wanted a space where everyone feels welcomed, gets a drink they love while feeling the warmth reminiscent of a dear friend’s dinner party,” the pair said.
“This bar is so special to us and the fact that it seems it is especially to others, that is just the greatest feeling.”
In addition to its rapidly changing menu Bar Bellamy offers nostalgic European food, which the pair say has become a quick favourite with the locals.
With the new additions to its listings, 50 Best Discovery now features over 3,700 hospitality establishments worldwide, showcasing the diversity and excellence of the hospitality industry. Each venue, including Bar Bellamy, is selected after receiving a certain number of votes from the expert voting Academies that create 50 Best’s world-leading global and regional lists.
