Made in the Shade to reopen The Everleigh

The Everleigh

Made in the Shade is reopening The Everleigh bar in Melbourne this Thursday as the hospitality industry across Australia begins the slow process of recovering from the COVID-19 lockdown.

Initially the bar will open from Thursdays to Saturdays, and providing Victoria gets the go ahead for 50pax on 22 June, the group has said it will reopen Bar Margaux from 25 June, again from Thursdays to Saturdays.

Made in the Shade Director, Michael Madrusan, told Bars and Clubs that the decision to reopen was a difficult one, and it was only once the team were sure the reputation of the bar would remain intact that they decided to go ahead.

“The decision to reopen wasn’t taken lightly, and we’re equally excited and apprehensive,” Madrusan said.

“We seriously considered the dangers of opening under strict guidelines and limited capacity.

“We had to make sure that our core values and offering would be compromised, that the service style could remain true to the bar, its reputation, our team, and the customers.

“This is why under the current regulations we’ve only chosen to open The Ev. We’ve mapped out a strong plan for getting her back on her feet and can’t wait to see those lights glowing in the faces of happy people once again.”

The bar will reopen with a three course menu created by Group Executive Chef Daniel Southern, which costs $65pp and includes a Mini French 75 on arrival plus a Bartender’s Choice cocktail.

The group is also opening The Everleigh’s Elk Room, where there is opportunity for group bookings of up to 20 people. The winter menu will include oysters, mozzarella with peperonata, braised beef cheek with salsa verde and pickled vegetables; and chocolate mousse with brandy, amaretti and macaron, and bookings can be made via The Everleigh website.

Made in the Shade has pushed through the COVID-19 lockdown by pivoting the business and offering MITS At Home. This a range of cocktails, cook at home and ready to eat meals for both delivery and collection.

The Bar Margaux and Connie’s Pizza menus remains in place and are available from Tuesday to Saturday, while Heartbreaker’s Liquor To Go bottle shop is delivering and open for pick up from 4pm – 10pm every Tuesday to Saturday.
